Abstract Why do we have obligations to the community which happen belong? For communitarians, membership does more than provide context for asking this question. In fact, simple fact of goes some way towards justifying our obligations. According strong version communitarian thesis, is fundamental consideration political obligation; but weaker version, one among others and at times may be less weighty one. John Horton's theory associative can read as moving back forth between weak communitarianism. His communitarianism when he rejects value pluralism, arguing that consideration, membership, fundamental. However, Horton also advances claims are compatible with not only thesis pluralism. They suggest that, if reason justify obligations, it defeated by other considerations.
